Nonsense Hand That Makes Every Sense π€‘
Representing a “Miss Finland” level of absurdity hand that I played a few days ago:
Island Underground Game
6-Max, 4-way limped pot, I am on the button with pocket fives.
Nobody cares about the current hand too much, as we are discussing the previous one, where I ran a big (and good and credible!) bluff and got hero-called π€’
(The board reads 2♦️Q♦️7 ♥️K ♦️A♥️, I check-raise the flop OP, turn goes check-check, and then this fucker calls my pot-sized bet on the river with Q ♠️10♦️. I am visibly pissed off with myself because it must have been something in my behavior, that gave me away. I had 4♠️2♠️ by the way, why did I have to limp with this hand and call a raise from the player on the button? )
I gave myself a task to let my inner monkey out and run a lot more bluffs than I normally do in this small game and see how it works or doesn’t work. At some point, I managed to inform the table about it and kept showing the bluffs, so that people started going after me and giving me lots of action.
Anyway, next hand the board comes K A A rainbow and everybody starts joking about none of the limpers hitting it. After three players check to my button, someone says, “Ok, now Alisa can bluff at it again”. I say “Sure”, bet 2 bb and the cut-off raises.
The young boy is capable of getting creative with a gutshot or even a backdoor, especially if he puts me on a steal, so I call. Turn is 8, we both check. The river is a bingo of all the bingos. Yes, right, I see a five and the boy checks again. I think, there is a chance he might have a weak ace here, in which case I have to go...
- All-in.
My signature 10x overshove with the nuts in a spot when there’s every reason to think I might be very tilted.
- Are you all-in? Seriously?
I confirm and he quickly calls with trip aces.
The table goes π€£π€ͺπ±π€―π΅π€’ when they see my hand.
CONCLUSION
If you had been coolered or ran an unsuccessful bluff a few hands ago, and now hit the nuts, overbet, overshove and get surprised over how well it works.
